Montefiore dell'Aso is a delightful country town, located in the hills between the valleys of the river Aso and the torrent Menocchia. Its horizon ranges from the Sibillini Mountains to the sea, only a few km.
It 'a typical medieval-style village of Le Marche, with a fairly well-preserved historic centre, with significant stretches of walls and doors fitted with six towers dating back to the sec. 15th and 16th Centuries.
A tour provides the visitor with pleasant views and interesting examples of the art-history of the past. It's "obligatory" to stop at the interesting Sala Adolfo De Carolis, with its evocative atmosphere, the beamed ceiling is decorated with elegant monofore fourteenth trilobal.
Inside the convent of S. Francis the New Museum Centre was inaugurated in October 2006. In the Franciscan convent spaces have been rearranged to accommodate art, films and ethnography.
In the new museum tourists can visit the Hall of Carlo Crivelli, the Centre of Scenographic Documentation Giancarlo Basili, Adolfo de Carolis Museum, the Museum of Rural Civilization, Collection Domenico Cantatore.
The theme of the new path is not the mere exposure but the imagination as a way to experience reality. Actual staging space in which the interior places play the same role of scenery outside exist.
In the village there are also many buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries.
